How to get there from KL: flight to Tawau and transfer to Samporna and take a boat there
Location: Sabah, East Malaysia
Date: 22nd-26th July 2010
Flight Cost (KL to Tawau): RM25 return (bought during airasia promo)
Trip buddy: Azdan, Ifah, Zue, Beb, Ayie, Amin, Umai and Aishah
I will remember this trip forever. Why? because my late brother (Falee) is supposely to join this trip and a month before, he was so excited for the trip. I remember him calling me many times, "when are we going to Mabul?", "when is the trip?" I ask him, do you have the money for the trip, and he replied "yes, i have", however he asked me "can i pay your debt later after the trip", I said "ok", I knew he would pay sooner or later, he is such a good kid, he never miss to pay to me, to other sisters and friends...But, the accident changed everything, he left this world so sudden, my mood for the trip turns upside down. What was came out on my mind was just simply call off the trip. I don't care about the beautiful island, the sea, dives, turtle, fish, moon, star and sky. A few days after he left this world, when I came into my sense again, my hubby asked me not to cancel the trip for the sake of my beloved friends.
Day 1 (22 July 2010)
Our flight to Tawau was at night and we stayed a night at Tawau city at budget hotel called Sutera Inn. Cost us around RM25/person.
Day 2 (23 July 2010)
The next morning around 10.30am after breakfast, travel to Samporna by public mini bus for a total distance around 100km (RM13/person). Then, by boat to our kampung style water chalet at Mabul Island. We took a package from Scuba Jeff that cost us RM390/person inclusive 3 nights lodging, boat transfer, meal and 3xsnorkeling trip.
We walked around the island, meeting the locals, bajau laut and Suluk people and water splash splash in front of our water chalet. At night we celebrated a small birthday party, with live singing performed by chalet's staff
Day 3 (24 July 2010)
Morning had breakfast and chill out facing the magnificent view of the blue sea. Our activities on day three was included in the package, snorkeling around the island 2 times, 1 hour each. with additional cost of RM300/person, me and Edan had 3 dives. The dive sites we went were Seaventure platform, Froggie's Lair and ????. Later after short nap, we walked around the island again but this time we went to the grand, high-end water chalet resort (USD1k/night) and dream rich. At night, watching local's live band at Uncle Cheng chalet. Song of the night was Waka waka, the world cup theme song. I love it!!!
Day 4 (25 July 2010)
Free activity..lepak, swimming, had meals facing the sea, singing. Enjoying every single moments. Appreciating God Almighty's creation with husband and friends.
Day 5 (26 July 2010)
Had photo memoir session with the staff. Back to mainland, pearl shopping at Semporna and by charter van drive back to Tawau, did a little local product shopping, had super duper delicious seafood dinner and flew back to KL
