SRI LANKA & MALDIVES 2012 | Sri Lanka Ayubowan! & Maldives Suvasthee!
Ayubowan! Welcome to Sri Lanka..It is a small island country in the northern Indian Ocean. My parents still called the country as Ceylon. From my short trip to Sri Lanka, what I can say about this country are, the people nice and honest, the land are mountainous, winding road, best precious stones in the world, spice and herbs, Noritake origins, Ceylon tea, beautiful scenery, good outdoor activities, clean toilet and the thing that we love the most is their foods are super delicious! very up to our standard, Malay standard..:) Ok enough with the introduction, let's start with the journey, shall we!
Day 1 (10th November 2012)
Today's flight to Colombo from Kuala Lumpur was at 11.00 am and expected to arrive at 12.00 pm. It is actually a 3.5 hours flights but due to different time zone, Sri Lanka is late by 2.5 hours from Malaysia. We arrived maybe a little bit earlier due to good weather I guess. I am thankful that most of the time when we were in Sri Lanka, the weather were sunny and clear not like what we expected. because of weather forecast, I even brought an umbrella and rain cover from Malaysia.
Our driver/Tour Guide, Mr. Dash was waiting for us and since he had e-mailed me his photo, I could recognized him right away. He got a big curly hair like our Malaysian musician, Alleycats and he's cool and very nice. Later I'll share some photos of us with him. After we changed our USD to Sri Lankan rupees and bought a local sim card (Dialog) for only 1,300 LKR, the journey began. I would highly recommend every tourist who can't live without internet and connection with your love-ones at home to buy this especially who's going to travel in Sri Lanka for quite sometimes. Although the price is cheap, never underestimate it, the coverage was impressive. I even managed to check-in at the top of Adamspeak..:)
First place we went that day was Susantha spice and herbal garden. The garden is located at Colombo-Kandy road. It is very near to Kandy. We got a free tour by the herbal doctor telling us about many types herbs and the benefits from them. At first I was skeptical and reluctant with the 'too good to be true' products but at the end, I end up spending more than 20k rupees here after 1 night of thinking (went again the next day). I never regret buying that miracle products! (sandalwood oil & cream, green oil, red oil, king coconut oil and etc).

On the way to our hotel at Kandy, we stopped for Asar & Zuhur Jama' Ta'hir and Qasar prayer. Another good thing about Sri Lanka is Muslim people is treated nicely and it was easy to find mosque/prayer room. The meat usually halal too, that's what they said. It is good to travel to a religious country no matter what religion they are, because usually religious people respect other religion. That's what I think.
