JORDAN 2015 | Self-driving (Amman - Madaba - Dead Sea - Petra - WadiRum- Aqaba - Amman)
Date Travelling: 14 - 25 February 2015
Total Cost (Inclusive Shopping): RM10,852 for 2 person
No. of person travelling: 2
Day 1 (14 Feb 2015) - From Malaysia to Kochi, India
from Our home by car to KL Sentral and took an airport bus departed at 6.00pm to KLIA2. We will be traveling to Jordan via Kochi, India. Flight to Kochi at 8.55 pm and we arrived Kochi at 11.30 pm (India time - 2.5 hours behind Malaysia). Our transit hotel located 650 meter only from the airport. That night we decided to walk to the hotel because we felt safe, different feeling as compare to when we were traveling in North before. We saved 450 rupees that night..:) Airport taxi had their minimum fares regardless of the distance. Actually, just outside the airport, probably 100-200 meters walking, there's a lot of tut-tut waiting near the roundabout, if you don't want to walk further, tut-tut just cost 50 rupees. Thankfully, the hotel's restaurant is open for 24-hours and Halal. The hot tea was great! The chappati and beef curry also delicious and cheap.

Layover at Dubai for 3 hours (Lunch and Pray) and then by Royal Air Jordanian departed at 1.55pm. On both flights, 30kg free check-in baggage and a full meal. The RJ airlines was very comfortable for Asian with a spacious room leg and wider seat, maybe because of the Middle East size. After 3.5 hours, we arrived at Queen Alia International airport at 3.30 pm (Jordan time). At the airport, a guy from the rental car company name Green Motion was waiting with my husband's name. We were brought to the car rental office which located a few km from the airport. The basic rental for Hyundai i10 for 8 days was only JOD135 but we decided to get full coverage (zero excess and theft protection) so added another JOD10 per day on top of the rental price. For the navigator, we bought a Middle East map for our own Garmin. As usual, we will be relying on the GPS coordinates for all location. The fuel was considered cheap at JOD0.52 per liter. To find our hotel was quite easy, a little traffic jammed that we can handle. Kuala Lumpur's traffic jammed is far worse than here. The parking area was located just behind our budget hotel and only cost JOD2 for the night. The hotel's location was perfect! later I will share the name and coordinates for all hotels, Tourist attractions, shops and others. The one in the Internet sometimes not that accurate. I'll give the most accurate after we reached the place and save the coordinates.

Day 3 (16 Feb 2015) - Wandering the city of Amman, the capital of Jordan
After breakfast at the hotel, the first place we went was Citadel Amman located just 2 km from our hotel. It took only 5 minutes to reach by car. I think admission is free and the fee we paid which is JD2 is actually for Archaelogical museum inside the Citadel because no one bother checking the ticket when we entered the Citadel. But the museum was worth a visit, a little refreshment for the human history. The view of Amman old city from here was marvelous. Umayyad palace and Hercules temple are also located inside the citadel.

Then, we went to King Hussein Garden and Mrtyr Memorial/War Museum. A little history of war in Jordan. The garden is not like what we imagined it was. Maybe it will be better in Springs with flowers and people. Next, we went to the king Abdullah mosque. I was a little disappointed because woman's wudu' area/toilet was very dirty. On the way to ABC department store (searched using GPS), we stopped at Avenue Mall and decided to skip the ABC. We had lunch here and bought drinks and foods at Carrefour inside the mall. Prayer room here was huge, with heater and very clean. Then, went to the cave of seven sleepers (Ashabul Kahfi). The story of seven sleepers is mentioned in the Quran.
Day 4 (17 Feb 2015) - Check-out from the Boutique hotel Amman and heading north and South
Check-out from Amman Hotel, visited Roman Theater at Amman, drive North west 30km to Prophet Shuaib a.s Tomb (passing marvelous Wadi Shuaib) and then drive 20km North to Prophet Yusha a.s tomb, then drive 60 km South to Mt.Nebo near Madaba. Check-in Salome Hotel at Madaba

Day 5 (18 Feb 2015) To the Hotsprings and The Dead Sea
Driving 30km on flat + mountainous roads to Ma'in Hotsprings. Spent a few hours at the natural one of a kind hot spring waterfall for JOD 15/person (with proper changing room with showers). Then, we continued driving 20 km to the Dead Sea resort. Spend the night here for JOD 88/night (Inc.tax 17%). The private beach is free of charge! Due to the cold weather, swimming in the dead sea was really challenging. I think we only managed to stay for less than 5 minutes, but it was really fun floating effortless. Beware! Keep your head above water all the times. Do not ever think to dunk your head, or you definitely will regret it. Your eyes felt like burning (even when closed tightly) and the tasted was terrible and disgusting (The real reason why we only survived 5 minutes..hehe).
Day 6 (19 Feb 2015) To Petra via Karak
After free breakfast, walking at the beach, taking photos..then, driving 80 km to Al Karak Castle at KARAK. The weather that day was freezing cold and too windy to spend more than 30 minutes in the castle (Tahap sejuk Azdan Udin pun tak tahan). Glad the admission fee was only JOD1/person..:) Continue driving another 180 km on King's Highway to Saba'a Hotel at Wadi Musa at altitude 1200m (The nearest town to Petra).
Day 7 (20 Feb 2015) - Wandering Petra
It's Petra Day!!! The Entrance ticket is JOD50 for 1 day, JOD55 for 2 days and JOD60 for 3 days. Today, Petra is opened up to the famous treasury only due to snow (Need to comeback to cover others). No need to tell more about the famous Petra. I was really amazed by every structures here and it was huge so it took us more than 4 hours walking plus resting. Before dark, went to Ain Musa (Moses' Spring) to taste the famous springs water. They said the water is warmer during winter and refreshing cold during summer.
Day 8 (21 Feb 2015) - Stranded in Petra due to Road Closure (heavy snow)
We were stranded in Petra/Wadi Musa (Road Close). Good weather in the afternoon..Spent day and night driving around, visited the Little Petra (the entrance only), watching the view, the sunset, the lights, relaxing at Turkish bath, eat and sleep..free and easy..Glad we had a car :)
Day 9 (22 Feb 2015) - To Wadi Rum and took the 1D1N Bedoin Tour
It's a beautiful sunny day!!! Driving to Wadi Rum, take a jeep tour for JOD65/person (inclusive camp, lunch, dinner and breakfast) Superb! The sad story behind this will be kept in our memories forever! We are so thankful to God that eventhough we lost huge amount of money due to the accident (we stupidly didn't made a police report), but we survived without any scratches on our body. Alhamdulliah! and also we are so thankful to the hotel's staff for blocking our car using his.
Day 10 (23 Feb 2015) - Drive to Aqaba and to the airport
